Student Life Information:
From Aaron Young, Director of Student Life Ministry
Well it’s hard to believe, but in just 2 short weeks we’ll be starting our summer 2011 missions sign-ups! We’re putting together our final plans for what we’re hoping and praying will be another fruitful and impacting summer of ministry. We are going to be changing a few things up this year, specifically when it comes to our level 1 mission trips and our emphasis on the high school beach camp mid-summer. We’re hoping these changes will set us up for even greater success. We’ll be discussing these changes, as well as our missions philosophy and registration process at our annual summer missions parents informational meetings on either Wednesday night, November 10th or Thursday night, November 11th. Both of these meetings will be identical in content, so we’re asking you to save one of those dates and plan on attending from 7:00-8:00pm. To encourage attendance, priority on all trips will be given to students whose parents attend a meeting. We’ll also be giving $100 off a mission trip to one lucky attendee each night. So save the dates and we’ll see you there!
Raising Kids to Do Hard Things can best be understood as a Christian household strategy seminar.
It is a child training seminar, but not in the way you might think. The household as a whole has more influence on each child’s character and competence than the parents by themselves. Siblings can make or break the process. Teamwork can make up for whatever is lack in parental skill. In other words, by “managing your household well” you can “keep your children under control with all dignity.” It is the household as a whole that serves as the training ground and incubator of future greatness.
Raising Kids to Do Hard Things teaches Christian families why to do hard things and how to do hard things together as a family. In the process it addresses every major area of life— personal, family, education, business, ministry hospitality and civic duty. In this Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon seminar you will learn how to make your home and family “a household of strength.”
Join SUMC's Student Life as they host this awesome Seminar
Friday, October 29th from 7:00-9:00pm and
