What's Happening at Sugarloaf UMC 10/11/10

Join us for our current sermon series...

What if you knew that by simply crossing the room and saying hello to someone, you could change that person's life forever? Just a few steps to man an eternal difference. It has nothing to do with methods and everything to do with taking a genuine interest in another human being. All you need is a heart that's in tune with the Holy Spirit and a willingness to venture out of your 'Circle of Comfort' and into another person's life.

We have copies of the book for you to pick up ($11/each donation) at the Bookstore upstairs.
This is the sermon series that the new GROW GROUPS will start with in October. Don't miss it!

This week, Stuart addresses “The Power of Story”
taken from John 4:39-42.
We will reflect on the story of the Samaritan woman at the well.
By simply sharing her story, others were led to faith.
The message will help us realize the power of our own
personal stories in the faith sharing process.

Stuart's "Just Checking In"
In an effort to communicate to the congregation, Stuart writes a weekly "Just Checking In" blog that will be posted here and on the front page of our website. Click here to see this weeks installment.

Raising Kids to Do Hard Things can best be understood as a Christian household strategy seminar.
It is a child training seminar, but not in the way you might think. The household as a whole has more influence on each child’s character and competence than the parents by themselves. Siblings can make or break the process. Teamwork can make up for whatever is lack in parental skill. In other words, by “managing your household well” you can “keep your children under control with all dignity.” It is the household as a whole that serves as the training ground and incubator of future greatness.

Raising Kids to Do Hard Things teaches Christian families why to do hard things and how to do hard things together as a family. In the process it addresses every major area of life— personal, family, education, business, ministry hospitality and civic duty. In this Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon seminar you will learn how to make your home and family “a household of strength.”

Join SUMC's Student Life as they host this awesome Seminar
Friday, October 29th from 7:00-9:00pm and

Many of you know our SK Volunteer Coordinator, Jean Rector. We all are sad to her go and will miss Jean tremendously. Please join us in praying for Jean and her family at this time of need.
