What's Happening at Sugarloaf UMC 12/6/10

If you like Christmas music (and who doesn’t!) you will definitely want to be in worship this Sunday as our Worship Arts Department presents their annual Christmas musical. You’ll probably even want to call a neighbor or friend and invite them as well. It will be a fantastic service, but it won’t be the same without YOU…so make plans to be here! Check out these other exciting things happening this month as well…

*New and Very Special Opportunity to Reach Out on Christmas Day:

A group will be going to several extended stay hotels in our area where many displaced families have found themselves due to economic conditions. We will bring and serve Christmas lunch and spend time talking and visiting with these families. We would love to have others join us to help provide and serve meals to these families on Christmas Day. A group of us did this on Thanksgiving and our experience was amazing......we hope to continue that experience on Christmas. The number of people volunteering will determine the number of hotels we will serve. Please contact Tami Dillard at tamfram2002@yahoo.com or Pam Lewis at pam.chavezlewis@gmail.com if you are interested in joining us.

Merry “almost” Christmas!! It’s hard to believe we’re only 19 days out! We’re getting ready to wrap up our 2010 year here at Student Life and are making preparations to launch in to 2011! I know next year probably isn’t on most of our radars with Christmas around the corner, but we do have a lot coming up at both the end of this year and the beginning of next that you need to be aware of.

First off this week is to sign up your high school student for the TAC (Tacky ALTÆR Christmas) coming up next Friday, December 17th. Hopefully they’ve been digging through the closets to find the tackiest, cheesiest Christmas outfit possible for this night of fun out on the town. We’ll be meeting at church at 5:00pm and should finish around 11:30pm. We’ll be heading out for some scavenger hunt fun before having dinner out and going cosmic bowling. We’ll finish the night out back at the church for dessert and our “white elephant” gift exchange. All of this for only $20. Students need to sign up by this Sunday!!!

Sugarloaf Kids Information:

From Lori Cotter, Director of Sugarloaf Kids Ministry

We hope this finds you doing well. Every now and then I receive an email or letter that reminds me of why we do the work we are called to do. Last week I received such an email and want to share it with you. A few months ago the children at BLASt put together care packages with offering money they raised, made pillow cases and wrote letters to our troops. We used an organization called Any soldiers.com to send these items to soldiers overseas who do not get any mail from home.

One of the soldiers sent an email. Click on our blog page to see it.
